You were born for this
This song is called “You were born for this”.
It’s inspired by an Erin Telford breathwork session, where she spoke these words at a particular moment during my emotional release and they broke deep into me and made me feel powerful, strengthened by every survivor through my entire family tree, and able to let go.
It’s also got inspiration from last year’s Emerge gathering and its theme of “the cracks where the light comes through”. Which I also found out yesterday from a person called Per is a Leonard Cohen lyric.
Also the circle song lyric “Mother Earth carry me, child I will also be”.
I wrote and recorded it today. And there's a part of it towards the end that is improvised live
I've committed to spending at least one hour per day on expressing my creativity. And sharing these creations to the world without judging whether or not they are “good enough”.
So more to come!

LYRICS
Bones feel heavy
Lips unsteady
Trying to keep everything in
Braced against the pain
Do you ever wonder if you’ll every be happy again?
You’re hardwired
To be hopelessly tired
Trying to make sense of it all
What is it all for?
So much spend on trying so hard not to fall
Let it all go put down the fight
Let it all come it’ll be alright
Let the waves surge through you with all their might
Breathe and release all that is tight
Open the cracks, let in the light
Oh you were born for this
You’ll be alright
Like the flowing river that runs to the sea
I’m gonna let the deep earth carry me
Child I will always be
Remember surrender is where the soul runs free
Remember generations that have danced to the stars
And let their wild hearts be torn apart
Rooted like the trees
You’ve got to admit that those are some pretty good genes
So let it all go put down the fight
Let it all come it’ll be alright
Let the waves surge through you with all their might
Breathe and release all that is tight
Open the cracks, let in the light
Oh you were born for this
You’ll be alright
